6 Start Building a Community
Remember, your Community is made up of the people involved directly in your organization who will work for
you (we call these folk Pebblings
), as well as the people who will have a say–by voting or
otherwise–in the outcome of your campaign (whether for you or against you). So, for example, your
Community could be made up of volunteers, voters, opinion makers, elected officials...basically anyone
involved with your campaign or or who you need to reach is part of the Community you need to organize
and engage.
The goal of a campaign is to grow your support. In a Community organizing model, you want your Pebblings to do this by performing Actions that engage and persuade everyone else in your Community.
But before we can take Action, we need to define the Community—both Pebblings and everyone else.
