5.2 Step 2: Write a “Strategic Messaging Memo” that outlines your Message.
If you completed your brainstorming discussion in Step 1, you should be able to start writing down your
Message
, and we suggest you draft a “Strategic Memo” that outlines it. You and
your team can refer to this document throughout the campaign to make sure you are staying consistent and
presenting a clear Message.
Normally, this memo should be less than two printed pages in length and should detail:
- The name of your organization
- A synopsis about you or your organization–who you are, your connection to the Community (No more than 3 to 5 paragraphs)
- Why you are campaigning (no more than 1 to 2 paragraphs)
- What are the issues and what is your case (Each issue should be able to be described in one paragraph)
- Why should you be trusted to deal with the issues (1 paragraph)
