5.2 Step 2: Write a “Strategic Messaging Memo” that outlines your Message.

If you completed your brainstorming discussion in Step 1, you should be able to start writing down your Message m-small.png, and we suggest you draft a “Strategic Memo” that outlines it. You and your team can refer to this document throughout the campaign to make sure you are staying consistent and presenting a clear Message.

Normally, this memo should be less than two printed pages in length and should detail:

  1. The name of your organization
  2. A synopsis about you or your organization–who you are, your connection to the Community (No more than 3 to 5 paragraphs)
  3. Why you are campaigning (no more than 1 to 2 paragraphs)
  4. What are the issues and what is your case (Each issue should be able to be described in one paragraph)
  5. Why should you be trusted to deal with the issues (1 paragraph)
