5.3 Step 3: Refine your strategic memo
Take a look at what you wrote in Step 2 and refine it after answering these questions:
- How do you think the people within your Community
that you need to convince will respond to your Message?
- Do you think your Message is compelling enough to get enough support to win?
- Is it consistent?
- Is it truthful?
- Does it seem personal? Will people connect with you?
Generally, within your memo, repetition of Message is a good thing. If it feels like you are saying the same
thing over and over, that's a good thing. If it feels like you are saying a million different things try
tightening up your Message.
Be sure to let others look at it and chime in. They will really help you tighten your Message and introduce
ideas you may have overlooked.
If you're campaign has opponents, you should strongly consider role playing and performing Step 1 through 3
above through their eyes. This will help you understand what their Message is, how they plan to present it, and
to whom they plan to present it.
